Brandon Lake reveals why he tattooed 23 names on his leg before debut album

Brandon Lake revealed that he got more than 20 people’s names tattooed on his leg just to meet finances for his first album.

The former member of Bethel Music opened up about his first album, Closer, which he released independently in 2016 in a recent interview with CBM.

Lake recalled his creative ways to gather money, “I decided, ‘I’m going to have to ask people for money and raise this money.’

“I said, ‘If you give me a certain amount of money, I’ll tattoo your name on my leg.”

The 36-year-old singer went on to say, “I have 23 last names tattooed on my thigh — 23 to get the record done.”

Lake added that he was “willing to do anything short of sin to get this record done.

“Anything short of sin,” he concluded.

Lake also revealed that after he rose to fame, his one of the highest moments in life became dark for him.

He noted, “I’m like, ‘This is not who I am. I’m on the mountaintop right now. My dreams are coming true and it’s just crazy.’ I guess I’d say a lot of people’s lowest moments come from a low moment. Mine came from a high moment.”

Lake has recently dropped a live album titled King of Hearts – in the Room!.

At the time of his album release, back in April, Lake said on his social media, “I’m not sure if I knew who this record was for when I started writing it, but as the songs came the more I realized it was not for the seemingly put together, but rather those who are honest about their brokenness, but also have a desire to connect with their creator and experience Him in everyday life.”
