The State Department has authorized the possible sale of 300 Patriot missiles to Saudi Arabia for approximately $3.05 billion, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency mentioned Tuesday.
The sale would refill Saudi Arabia’s “dwindling” inventory of missile protection programs.
“These missiles are used to protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s borders in opposition to chronic Houthi cross-border unmanned aerial machine and ballistic missile assaults on civilian websites and demanding infrastructure in Saudi Arabia,” the Defense Security Cooperation Agency mentioned in a commentary.
It comes after President Biden visited Saudi Arabia closing month and met with King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Said and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about human rights and effort safety.
