Flight delays, reroutes and rising fares are impacting Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet international services. Here’s what travellers need to know before flying.

Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet flights hit by disruptions: What international passengers must know
International travel on Indian carriers is currently facing disruptions, with schedules, routes, and fares undergoing frequent changes, according to a report by Condé Nast Traveller India.
The report highlights that ongoing geopolitical tensions and airspace restrictions across parts of West Asia have significantly impacted flight operations. As a result, airlines such as Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet are having to constantly adjust their international services.
Flight schedules remain fluid
As per Condé Nast Traveller India, airlines are revising schedules in real time. Some routes have been temporarily suspended, while others are operating at reduced frequencies or through special flights, depending on airspace availability and regulatory approvals.
Air India gradually restoring services
The report notes that Air India and Air India Express have started restoring connectivity to key destinations in the Middle East, including cities in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. However, many of these services remain subject to operational clearances, making last-minute changes possible.
Longer routes and extended travel time
Separately, Reuters reports that due to restricted airspace, airlines are being forced to reroute several international flights, particularly those heading towards Europe and North America. This has led to longer travel durations and, in some cases, additional technical stops.
Rising fares amid operational pressures
According to The Times of India, the impact of longer routes and increased fuel consumption is also being reflected in ticket prices. Airlines have started introducing fuel surcharges and fare hikes on certain routes, making international travel more expensive in the short term.
Expect last-minute changes
Condé Nast Traveller India further points out that the situation remains dynamic, with delays, cancellations, and rescheduling continuing to affect passengers. Travellers are advised to regularly check flight statuses and stay updated with airline advisories.
While international connectivity is gradually stabilising, the overall environment remains uncertain. As highlighted across reports, flexibility and preparedness are key for passengers travelling abroad in the current scenario.
