During the Artemis II mission, astronaut Jeremy Hansen told Nasa’s Kelsey Young that the crew would like to name some craters on the Moon that they can currently see “both with our naked eye and with our long lens”.

One of those craters is a bright spot near the Moon’s surface. The team proposed naming it “Carroll,” a lasting tribute to Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman’s late wife, Carroll Taylor Wiseman, who died of cancer in 2020 at age 46.
