Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette also makes appearance in first New York moment since Met Gala 2023
Actor and DJ Paris Hilton took over Herald Square on Monday for the late Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring/Summer 2026 campaign celebration, turning the busy Midtown landmark into a fashion and music spectacle.
The event was framed as an exclusive takeover led by Hilton, who also performed a DJ set from atop a vintage double-decker bus parked in the square. The setup drew large crowds and added a playful, theatrical touch to the campaign launch, blending street energy with high fashion.
Choupette, the late designer’s famously adored cat, also made a special appearance through a lifelike costume presentation. This marked the feline’s first New York moment since the Met Gala 2023. Since Lagerfeld passed away in 2019, Choupette has remained part of his legacy and is now cared for by his former housekeeper, who looked after the cat when Lagerfeld was alive.
The celebration brought together friends of the maison, along with a mix of international creators and influencers. Among the guests were Young Emperors and DJ Pamela Tick, who opened the set before Hilton took over the decks.
Hilton wore a black patch bomber jacket with “Paris” written across the back, styled with a belted mini skirt, heeled boots, and a crossbody bag from the Karl Lagerfeld Paris Spring/Summer collection. She completed the look with custom Lagerfeld eyewear, keeping the styling bold but clean, in line with the brand’s signature aesthetic.
