Cara Delevingne has addressed the long-running rumours that she had an affair with Amber Heard while Heard was still married to Johnny Depp, and made clear the timeline wasn’t quite what Depp believed.
Speaking on the Louis Theroux Podcast in an episode released on 29 June, Delevingne explained that Depp’s accusations stemmed from jealousy rather than fact.
“I think he was pretty driven crazy by jealousy,” she told Theroux, insisting “nothing was happening at that point.”
She traced the origin of his suspicions back to 2013, when she and Heard worked together on the film London Fields, in which Depp made a brief cameo appearance.
Depp and Heard dated from 2011 and married in 2014, before separating after fifteen months and finalising their divorce the following year.
It was only after that split, Delevingne confirmed, that a relationship between her and Heard actually developed.
“Later, after they divorced, it had happened, I suppose,” she said. “Heard and I were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, we were entangled.”
Delevingne was also candid that Heard was not exclusively involved with her during that period, pointing to Heard’s on-and-off relationship with Elon Musk between 2016 and 2018.
“She was also entangled with other people,” Delevingne noted.
