Jessie J has revealed that there is still a possibility her cancer could return as she opened up about the emotional moment she shared with her mother after receiving her diagnosis.
The 37-year-old singer announced in June that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and later underwent a mastectomy followed by reconstructive surgery.
While Jessie said she feels ‘super lucky’ that her cancer was detected early, she admitted there remains a chance it could come back.
The star also revealed that her mother was the first person she called after hearing the devastating news and shared the heartbreaking words she told her during that moment.
‘I remember calling my mum first and I said: ‘Well I can’t die because I have Skye,’ Jessie told ABC News.
Discussing her cancer battle, Jessie said: ‘I have been really lucky, super lucky, to find it so early.
‘It wasn’t invasive-thank god. I know there’s a chance it could come back but until then we are living life.’
Jessie, who is now a mother-of-one, compared her cancer surgery experience to an episode of Black Mirror.
The pop star explained that she hates being put under general anesthetic, admitting that the feeling reminds her of the eerie, surreal scenarios depicted in the hit Netflix sci-fi series.
