Lil Wayne recently clarified his stance on Kendrick Lamar after sparking a row with him during the Super Bowl gig. However, Joe Budden shared a different version about the matter.

On his podcast, the hip-hop podcaster said the details the A Milli hitmaker shared about his conversation with the K.Dot rapper—where they sort out their differences—were missing a crucial part.

“I don’t want to break any walls here, but I mean, he left a small part out of that. He did speak to him, [but it was before the song came out], and then he started tweeting. Which would make somebody say, ‘***** didn’t we just talk?'”

Joe also claimed the Lollipop rap star even “went in the both” to record a response after the Grammy winner released his track Wacced Out Murals—referencing the 42-year-old—and ignored the New Orleans rapper when he tried to reach him.

In Wayne’s version, he earlier suggested on The Skip Bayless Show that he did not hear the song before his phone call with Kendrick, during which they eased out their differences.

“That was my first time hearing it. I think he’s a fan, and I’m a fan of his music. I think he meant he saw what everyone else saw, he saw how much it meant to me […] He didn’t let me down,” he said.

In the wake of the Mirror rapper’s claim that he had not heard the song before, it is relevant to mention here that he did react to the track online when it was released.

“Man *** I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness,” he fired off the tweet on X.

“Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love,” Wayne concluded with a stern warning.
