Nicolas Hoult recalls ‘charming’ wrap gift Hugh Grant gave him when he was 11
Nicolas Hoult and Hugh Grant had a reunion to reminisce about their movie About a Boy.
During the Vanity Fair interview, Hoult recalled the wrap gift the Heretic star gave him when About a Boy wrapped filming.
Hoult, who was 11 at the time, recalled: “You got me my first set of clubs as a wrap gift from About a Boy. Do you remember that? And you signed the golf bag as well.”
Grant then commented that the gift was “charming” and better than what he gave The Undoing child star Noah Jupe.
“It’s better than the wrap present I gave to my [on-screen] son on The Undoing, which was a box of cigars. His mother was furious.”
Grant also commented on his character from his romantic hit Notting Hill with Julia Roberts. He told “Whenever I’m flicking the channels at home after a few drinks and this comes up, I just think, ‘Why doesn’t my character have any balls?’” he told Vanity Fair’s Scene Selection.
He explained: “There’s a scene in this film where she’s in my house and the paps come to the front door and ring the bell and I think I just let her go past me and open the door. That’s awful.”
He shared: “I’ve never had a girlfriend, or indeed now wife, who hasn’t said, ‘Why the hell didn’t you stop her? What’s wrong with you?’ And I don’t really have an answer to that – it’s how it was written. And I think he’s despicable, really.”
Meanwhile, Nicolas Hoult has starred in several acclaimed projects in recent years and will soon be seen in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu remake.
