A couple living in a Vicars Court, in Lincoln, England were astonished to find the scary structure under their bathroom which they could not believe, as they have yet to explore their 700-year-old home, the New York Post reported.

Rory Vorster was quoted in the report as saying: “I couldn’t believe it. I shouted up to my wife and said ‘I’ve found a thing.”

Vorster, who is a cybersecurity worker, and his 40-year-old wife, discovered the grotesque gothic gargoyle this month after moving into their new house.

According to the outlet, the area is the property of the Lincoln Cathedral and is believed to be the abode of a former vicar.

Since the couple moved into their mansion, they had not had any chance to explore their residence fully, as the 41-year-old Vorster started cleaning the bathroom.

As he started scrubbing the commode, he found the ghoulish-looking sprite underneath a wooden panel above the throne.

The couple turned to social media asking people about the explanation and many declared the sculpture as evidence of cult activity, according to her wife.

“It would have been for a vicar,” the salon owner said, who found it slightly suspicious that the artifact was hidden.

Eventually, they got to know from experts at Lincoln Cathedral that the carved visage was actually part of a drainage system dating back to the 14th century.

“My plans for it are to just enjoy it because of how interesting it is,” she said. “I have a desire to upkeep it.”
