Valentine’s Day Travel 2026: This is where Indian couples are booking their weekend stays

From Pondicherry To Udaipur, These Are India’s Hottest Valentine’s Day Getaways
Roses are optional. But a slow breakfast by the sea, a quiet walk with your partner or even a sunset by a lake? We’ll take it, thank you. This Valentine’s Day weekend, Indian couples are actually looking to take it slow, and skip over-planned trips in favour of a few quieter destinations, and the search data proves it.
According to fresh accommodation search trends from Agoda, destinations that promise pretty views and room for real conversation are seeing a sharp spike in interest. These include coastal towns, cliffside beaches, hill retreats, and old-world cities where you can actually carve out some space for just the two of you.
Here’s where couples are heading this Valentine’s weekend, and why.
Pondicherry
Pondicherry leads the list with a 48% jump in searches. A popular corner among travellers, you can head to the Rock Beach promenade or roam around the leafy lanes of White Town, and get nibbles at the café-lined streets near Rue Suffren, where pastel buildings and French-era balconies set the mood. For active couples, there are cycling excursions in the mornings, afternoons at Paradise Beach, and quiet evenings near Sri Aurobindo Ashram, making the town ideal for a no-rush Valentine’s escape.
Varkala
India’s most up-and-coming surf town, the search interest in Varkala is up 41%, driven by its rare cliffside coastline. Days here are centred around lingering at cafés on Varkala Cliff, watching the Arabian Sea from above, followed by barefoot walks at Varkala Beach and Black Sand Beach. Those looking for quieter moments often head to Edava Beach or explore the Sivagiri Mutt, where the atmosphere stays peaceful even during peak season.
Chennai
A rare big city on this list, Chennai saw a 38% rise in Valentine’s weekend searches, appealing to couples who want romance without giving up city comforts. Early walks along Marina Beach, sunset views at Besant Nagar’s Elliot’s Beach, and visits to Kapaleeshwarar Temple offer a balance of culture and calm. Many travellers also plan a half-day at DakshinaChitra.
Lonavala
A perennial favourite for Mumbai and Pune residents, this hill station recorded a 36% increase in searches, especially among couples planning quick weekend getaways. The romance here lies in viewpoints like Lion’s Point and Tiger Point, quiet nature walks near Rajmachi View Point, and short heritage detours to the Karla and Bhaja Caves.
Udaipur
Up north, Udaipur continues to lure travellers with a 33% rise in interest. Couples are drawn to sunset boat rides on Lake Pichola, slow strolls through the courtyards of City Palace, and wandering the old lanes around Jagdish Temple. Among other popular excursions in this Rajasthani town is a trip to Saheliyon Ki Bari and Fateh Sagar Lake, as well as dinners overlooking the lake, all of which keep Udaipur firmly on the Valentine’s romance map.
