The kitchen is one part of the home where there’s always work to be done. A person’s tasks don’t begin and end with following a recipe; cleanup is also a big part of kitchen duties. And nowhere is cleaning more required than when transferring oil from a packet into a bottle. No matter how you try to pour the oil, there’s bound to be spillage, leaving your kitchen sticky. However, there is a simple hack to avoid any mess. A video on X, formerly Twitter, shows an easy way people can avoid a messy kitchen while opening a new packet of oil.

The video, shared by an account named Fundamental Investor, has garnered over six lakh views since it was posted on December 28.

Kitchen Hack Shows The Right Way To Pour Oil

The video shows two women standing in a kitchen trying to pour oil from a packet into a bottle. One of them spills the liquid onto the slab. The other woman stops her and shows a simple way to avoid a mess. She first cuts a small diagonal strip from the top, followed by a bigger one. This creates a makeshift funnel. The woman puts the funnel on top of the bottle and pours the oil easily.

The caption read, “I have been pouring oil from packets into small cap bottles for over two decades now. Never knew this super hack. Will try this next time. Absolutely brilliant!”

Users React To The Kitchen Hack Video

The clip led to mixed reactions. Several people said that they already used a funnel in the kitchen. “Seriously? Ever heard of a funnel?” an account posted.

Others asked the women to buy an actual funnel instead of using a tiny part of the plastic packaging. “Market me 10 rs ka ata h,” another commented.

An individual remarked, “Don’t cut off plastic corners. They don’t get to recycling, they pollute a lot.”

Many slammed the “super hack” and stated that it leads to more pollution. “Super hack? Please spend on a 10rs funnel. These idiots are spoiling the environment by adding small pieces of plastic everytime. A sane person would discard the whole packet with a little cut, without breaking.

A comment read, “Good likelihood of that cut-piece tilting or falling-off and then there will be spill.”

Many of the responses pointed out how a simple hack can actually have devastating consequences for the environment if it is followed by large sections of the population. The video of the oil pour method, and the reactions to it, reveal how an easy method may sometimes not be the best one to follow unless you modify it. What are your thoughts about the hack?
