The Rath Yatra will also happen from Gaudiya Math Temple.
According to ISKCON Patna President Krishna Kripa Das, the Rath Yatra will begin from the temple premises in the afternoon and will return to the temple by 7 pm.
Patna residents who cannot travel to Puri’s Jagannath temple this year to witness the grand Rath Yatra can have a dose of the divine tradition in their city. On July 7, a grand Rath Yatra for Lord Jagannath will be held at several temples in Patna. Preparations are underway in all temples for this event.
The chariots and temples are decorated with flowers and garlands, and the entire temple complex is illuminated with colourful lights. There is considerable enthusiasm for the Rath Yatra starting at the ISKCON temple. This year, drones will shower flowers during the city procession. The Rath Yatra will also happen from the Gaudiya Math temple and Bhikhmaddas Thakurbari, not just the ISKCON temple.
People are already excited about the Jagannath Yatra starting from the ISKCON temple. Every year, many devotees from both within the country and abroad participate. The Rath Yatra proceeds with the continuous chanting of “Hare Krishna Hare Rama.”
This year, the main attraction will be a chariot equipped with a hydraulic system, which will carry Lord Jagannath along with Balabhadra and Subhadra. According to ISKCON Patna President Krishna Kripa Das, the Rath Yatra will begin from the temple premises in the afternoon and will follow a route through the Planetarium, Income Tax Golambar, High Court, Bihar Museum and Patna Women’s College, returning to the temple by 7 pm. Flowers will be showered on the Lord by drones during the journey.
For the past 50 years, the Gaudiya Math temple in Mithapur has been conducting the Rath Yatra. On the day of the Rath Yatra, Lord Jagannath, Shri Balabhadra and Subhadra ji will be paraded on a chariot within the temple premises. This procession symbolises bringing the Lord from Dwarka to Vrindavan. The Rath Yatra will commence at 4 pm. On this occasion, President Bhaktisagar Maharaj will narrate stories related to the Rath Yatra, explaining its significance, importance, and the mysteries associated with the festival.
Preparations are in full swing for the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath at Bhikhmaddas Thakurbari. The Rath Yatra will commence from the temple premises at 5 pm and will proceed to Naga Baba Thakurbari, passing through Hathua Market, Chudi Market, Dinkar Chauraha, and Devi Sthan. A grand Aarti will be performed for the Lord. The chariot will return to the temple by 9 pm. Participants will include people from Bakarganj, Kadamkuan, Rajendranagar, and other areas. The Mahant of the temple, Jayanarayan Das, will be the first to pull the chariot’s rope. He mentioned that the Rath Yatra has been held for the past four years.
