The first and most frequent indicator of lymphoma, appears as painless swollen lymph nodes which develop in the neck, armpits or groin region. The lymphoma nodes present as firm, painless growths that differ from infected nodes, which usually cause discomfort. The growth of these nodes happens gradually, while they remain firm to the touch. People tend to disregard these swollen nodes because they do not produce any pain. Medical evaluation becomes necessary when swollen nodes persist for extended periods, without signs of infection. The symptom presents difficulties because swollen nodes from viral infections also occur, but they remain painful, and heal within a short period of days or weeks.
