One parenting influencer has spoken out about her time on social media and how it has changed her opinion on showing her children.

Maia Knight became well-known on TikTok for her “day in the life” style videos as a single mother to her twin daughters, Violet and Scout. However, she has shifted to more lifestyle-focused content without showing her children’s faces, most notably after she married her husband Jake last year and they welcomed a son in July 2025.

In a video posted Thursday, Knight told her followers it was “finally time for me to be honest” about why she has withheld the name of her son. She explained how she tried to handle her content while she was first pregnant, admitting she had “no idea” how much information she was going to want to share.

“I was kind of just, like, playing it by ear,” she said. “Obviously, I ended up sharing the sex once I felt comfortable.

“To go back to why I haven’t shared my son’s name, just the fact that there are so many people out there that get pissed off that I haven’t shared his name is, like, exactly the reason why I haven’t shared his name,” Knight continued.

“And also, I have a pretty thick skin now, but his name is very, very unique, and I love his name. Jake loves his name. I know if I shared it, it would get a lot of judgement, which is fine, but like I said, I’m in my protecting my peace era, and I just don’t wanna deal with it.”

As the video continued, Knight discussed how quickly she went viral on TikTok almost five years ago and how grateful she is for the kind of life it has given her. But looking back, she said she “obviously” has “regrets about how much I did share about my kids.”

“I’m not even gonna get into that,” she said, adding that social media is a “beast” and that she has been feeling “pretty rough” about her content.

“I’m so desensitized to it now,” Knight added.

“But as, like, a very normal person, you’d literally have to be crazy to not care about thousands of people s****ing on you all the time,” she said. “Not much bothers me anymore.”

The clip ended as she explained that her followers only see one percent of her life and thanked them for continuing to support her as she transitions into more child-free content.

Some commenters shared their support for the influencer’s decision, telling Knight that they would continue to watch her content regardless of her children being involved.

“You were one of the first people I followed on TT and I love that you share your journey & changed your content to protect your own head space. I love it!” one person wrote, while another agreed, writing, “Proud of your growth and dedication to your real life. Social media and parasocial connections are fun, but I appreciate your grounded approach.”
