Prince Harry no longer invited to this major royal tradition, has been replaced by THIS Prince – Times of India
Following their family tradition, the UK royals celebrated Christmas at Sandringham this year. However, as per reports, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan were not a part of his family’s Christmas celebrations this year too. Not just this, reports also suggest that a young royal has now replaced Prince Harry in a festive tradition for the first time ever.
For the unversed, each year the UK royals spend the holiday season and Christmas at their Sandringham Estate. A tradition which was started by Queen Elisabeth, was continued this year by King Charles III after his accession to the throne. A part of the festivities also includes playing a pre-Christmas football match along with workers at the Sandringham estate and nearby villagers. The last time this tradition was followed was in 2018, when Prince Harry had participated in the Sandringham football match. In fact, he participated it in each year till 2018, which is the year when he got married to Meghan Markle and also the last year when the couple celebrated Christmas with the UK royals.
However, this year since Prince Harry was not invited to the Christmas festivities by King Charles III, he was also not a part of the Sandringham football match. Instead, it was Prince George who participated in the football match along with his father Prince William for the first time.
Prince George, 11, is the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The father-son duo were supported and cheered by Kate Middleton, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Commenting on Prince Harry being replaced by Prince George, an insider told The Sun, “It just looked like healthy father-and-son bonding time. There were other children playing and it was all good fun and light-hearted.” The insider also said that it was “nice that they have returned to take part in the traditional game as they haven’t done so for years” and it was “interesting” to know that Prince Harry “has now been substituted for Prince George.”
Well, with Prince Harry missing out on the family get-together and now being replaced by Prince George in the football match does speak volumes about Harry’s strained relationships with his elder brother Prince William and his family.
