Love rajma chawal but worried about calories? Tamannaah Bhatia’s trainer explains how to balance indulgence with smart eating.

Tamannaah Bhatia’s Fitness Coach Reveals 3-Step Plan To Enjoy Rajma Chawal Guilt-Free
Rajma chawal is one of the most beloved traditional North Indian dishes. This hearty meal combines red kidney beans (rajma) with steamed rice (chawal), creating a high-protein, vegetarian comfort food cherished in many households. Known for its creamy texture and aromatic spices, rajma chawal is the ultimate comfort food, but incorporating it into a healthy diet can sometimes feel challenging.
Siddhartha Singh, a renowned celebrity fitness coach who has trained stars like Tamannaah Bhatia, recently addressed a common misconception about comfort foods. Emphasising sustainable, long-term fat loss through habit-building rather than restrictive diets, Singh offered a three-step solution for enjoying rajma chawal while staying on track with your fitness goals.
Mind The Ratio Of Rice and Legumes
He advised, “First things first, you want to decrease the amount of chawal (rice) you are having. All this chawal is going to be too much carbohydrates, which is going to give you a sudden crash, and you don’t want to do that.”
Next, he noted, “Instead of having a small bowl of rajma, we’re actually going to have a big bowl of rajma because the rajma beans, legumes, have a lot of nutrients in them,” Siddhartha Singh stated. In the third step, he added some salad to the plate for better nutrition.
Keep The Protein Intake High
Lastly, he explains, “The most important aspect of this whole plate is protein, yes, Rajma has protein, but not as much as you need because you go to the gym and you also have a very hectic work schedule.”
Siddhartha also shared a pro tip: to keep rajma chawal both simple and flavorful, he adds 200 grams of Greek yoghurt, which not only completes the meal but also enhances its taste. Wrapping up the clip, the fitness coach emphasised that no one should give up rajma chawal, regardless of their fitness philosophy, provided it’s balanced thoughtfully according to their body’s needs.
