The 20-20-20 rule can help: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. The discomfort may feel intense, but it is usually temporary.

Blue Light Glasses Are a Complete Solution

Blue-light glasses have become increasingly popular, but the scientific evidence supporting them is more limited than marketing claims suggest. The majority of eye strain experienced when viewing screens (via computer/phone/tablet) is caused by decreased blink frequency and poor posture versus being caused by blue light wavelengths. These glasses may offer minor comfort for some people, but they are not a substitute for regular breaks, proper lighting, and good screen habits.

Eating Carrots Will Perfect Your Vision

Beta-carotene is an antioxidant that has many health-promoting qualities. When consumed in sufficient amounts, your body can convert it into vitamin A, which is essential for healthy vision and the maintenance of healthy eyesight. If you already have an adequate amount of vitamin A in your system, additional consumption of carrots will not improve the quality of your vision beyond what is currently present. A balanced diet supports healthy eyesight, but eating only carrots will not improve your vision.

Eye Drops Can Cure All Eye Problems

Over-the-counter drops may relieve dryness and redness but will not address any eye health problems. A doctor must examine you to determine how to treat any eye condition such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. If you continually use drops to mask the symptoms of eye diseases, you may not realize that your condition is actually worsening. Vision loss happens instantaneously without any prior warning. Most serious vision-threatening diseases develop slowly over time and without any prior notice.
