The champions are finally home! Team India checked in early morning at ITC Maurya and received a much deserved grand welcome at the hotel.
After departing from Barbados in the wake of Hurricane Beryl, Rohit Sharma’s Team India landed in New Delhi early today.

The team returned home after securing the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title in the Caribbean. Rohit’s squad ended a long wait for an ICC championship by defeating South Africa by seven runs in a gripping final held at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.

Stranded due to hurricane

The Indian team took off from Grantley Adams International Airport aboard a charter flight on Wednesday. The team members had been stranded for three days due to the category-four hurricane. Air India operated a special charter flight, dubbed Air India Champions 24 World Cup (AIC24WC), which left the Caribbean at 4:50 a.m. local time and arrived in New Delhi at approximately 6:20 a.m. IST today.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organized the charter flight for the Indian team, including support staff, players’ families, board officials, and members of the traveling media. The flight was arranged after the team’s departure was postponed because of Hurricane Beryl.
