ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan defeated Nepal 2-1 to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the ITF World Juniors Competition at the 2026 Asia Oceania Pre-Qualifying Event held in Phan Thiet, Vietnam.
Seeded sixth in the event, Pakistan topped Group F after an impressive performance in the group stage to qualify among the top eight teams.
The decisive doubles match highlighted the determination of the Pakistan girls. They won the opening set convincingly 6-0 before falling behind 1-3 in the second set.
However, the pair mounted a strong comeback, winning five of the next six games to take the set 6-4 and seal the tie 2-1 in Pakistan’s favour.
The victory ensured Pakistan’s progression to the quarter-finals of the regional qualifying tournament, which is being held from March 2 to 7 at NovaWorld Phan Thiet in Vietnam.
