A tech giant and a consumer goods name were among the companies being talked about by analysts on Monday. Citi reiterated Dell Technologies as a buy, noting the stock could see strong gains after its upcoming inclusion into the S & P 500 index. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley downgraded Church & Dwight to equal weight from overweight. Check out the latest calls and chatter below. All times ET. 7:15 a.m.: BofA moves to neutral on JetBlue Bank of America exited JetBlue’s bear camp, citing improvements in the business backdrop. Analyst Andrew Didora upgraded the airline stock to neutral from underperform and doubled his price target, which now sits at $6. That new target reflects the potential for 13.2% in upside. “Air travel demand as measured by TSA throughput has been stable in recent weeks as domestic capacity continues to moderate, coinciding with falling fuel prices,” Didora said. “While we view these recent trends as an industry tailwind, we see JBLU’s positioning as further supported by ongoing self-help measures as demonstrated by last week’s positive investor update.” Didora said these self-help initiatives, like revenue improvement strategies, are beginning to show early signs of impact. Despite this, he said high net leverage remains the “key risk” for shares. JetBlue jumped about 2.5% in Monday premarket trading. But shares have slipped 4.5% in 2024, placing the stock on track for its fifth straight losing year. — Alex Harring 6:58 a.m.: Morgan Stanley lifts Costco price target to $950 Morgan Stanley sees more room for rallying Costco shares to run. Analyst Simeon Gutman hiked his price target for the wholesaler by $95 to $950, which now reflects upside potential of 8.4% compared with last week’s closing price. Gutman also has an overweight rating. “Our what’s in the price analysis shows COST’s ~50x NTM P/E multiple sets a high bar – but one that appears attainable for this best-in-class retailer,” he wrote in a Monday note. “We believe COST’s growth drivers are durable, and both historical performance as well as our view of the future of retail point to further upside.” Gutman said warehouse productivity and market share gains should drive top-line growth going forward. Additionally, he pointed to the nascent digital media business as a revenue and profit stream that hasn’t yet been fully appreciated by investors. His call comes amid a strong year for the stock, with shares jumping more than 32% in 2024. Before this lift, Gutman’s old target implied shares would pull back by about 2.5% after this year’s big runup. — Alex Harring 6:41 a.m.: Beat-down MarineMax can rebound by more than 50%, Citi says Citi moved off the sidelines on struggling MarineMax shares. Analyst James Hardiman upgraded shares of the boat and yacht services company to buy from neutral and upped his price target by $4 to $44. Hardiman’s new suggests the stock can surge 51.5% over Friday’s close. “At the most basic level, HZO is a strong play on the [Federal Reserve] pivot,” he said. “Boat affordability has been hit hard (maybe hardest) by the higher for longer rate environment and stands to benefit mightily in a soft-landing scenario.” In addition, he pointed to the monetization opportunities within marina real estate. Though management has been historically disinterested in this, Hardiman said pressure will mount if the traditional path for share upside doesn’t deliver. “This story embodies both substantial upside and limited downside, and is worth a second look for investors looking for sizable risk-adjusted returns,” Hardiman told clients in his Monday note. Shares popped more than 4% before the bell on Monday. That comes amid a rough period, with shares tumbling more than 25% in 2024. HZO YTD mountain HZO year to date — Alex Harring 6:27 a.m.: Proceed with ‘some caution’ into CrowdStrike investor day, Morgan Stanley says Morgan Stanley said it’s tactically cautious heading into CrowdStrike’s investor day next week. The cybersecurity stock has been closely watched since an update caused a global IT outage earliert his summer. While showing some concern, analyst Hamza Fodderwala kept his overweight rating and price target of $325, which implies upside of 31.9% over last week’s closing level. The blackout and its wake are likely to be a focus, he said. Yet Fodderwala said the company is “likely to regain customer trust and expect a largely positive reception from the > 5K attendees at the conference next week.” He also noted that annual recurring revenue forecasts remain high. But “better-than-feared” earnings results released last month “may not have been the clearing event we hoped for,” the analyst said. His note is partially titled “Proceeding with Some Caution.” “While expectations are low, we’d be cautious heading into Investor Day next week as forward estimates have yet to be fully reset for a consistent beat/raise trajectory from here,” Fodderwala said. “Longer term, we think the CRWD platform story remains intact and ARR should re-accelerate 2H of next year and into CY26.” CrowdStrike shares advanced 1.3% in Monday’s premarket. The stock is down 3.5% year to date. — Alex Harring 5:58 a.m.: JPMorgan says it’s neutral on GE HealthCare JPMorgan came out in Wall Street’s minority on GE HealthCare . Analyst Robbie Marcus initiated coverage at neutral, despite the majority of analysts polled by LSEG having a buy rating. Marcus’ $90 price target for December 2025 suggests 5.8% upside over Friday’s closing level. Marcus said the company is an “oligopoly player” within medical imaging and should be able to continue organic growth and operating on a healthy margin. Software options and pharmaceutical diagnostic agents can also help financials going forward, he said. But the “robust” multiple of 18x 2025 earnings has made him not “fully comfortable with the margin of safety nor have material confidence in the timing of a China rebound.” GE HealthCare shares have added around 10% in 2024. The company began trading early last year. — Alex Harring 5:51 a.m.: Morgan Stanley downgrades Church & Dwight After Church & Dwight’s runup, Morgan Stanley sees its bullish thesis having played out. Analyst Dara Mohsenian downgraded the consumer packaged goods stock to equal weight from overweight. Mohsenian’s $110 price target implies just 4.6% upside over Friday’s closing level. The analyst said the stock was fairly valued after ripping nearly 30% higher since the start of 2023. That makes it one of the best performers within the coverage area over that time period, Mohsenian said. Still, shares are up less than 12% in 2024, underperforming the S & P 500. CHD YTD mountain CHD year to date Mohsenian also said the overweight thesis that earned the stock an upgrade early last year is now basically worked through. On top of that, he noted a tough pricing environment for household and personal care stocks that can weigh on the Arm & Hammer parent. Looking ahead, he said there’s stronger plays within the sector. “From a company perspective, we are very forthright that there are no home runs in our coverage here from our vantage point,” he said. “We remain most bullish on OW rated Coca-Cola and Colgate as our top picks longer-term and see short-term upside at EW rated Clorox and Keurig Dr Pepper, despite our longer-term EW stances.” — Alex Harring 5:51 a.m.: Dell to rally on S & P 500 inclusion, Citi says Get ready for big gains in Dell Technologies shares, according to Citi. Analyst Asiya Merchant reiterated her buy rating and $160 price target on the stock — which implies upside of 57% from Friday’s close. Shares popped more than 6% in the premarket after S & P Dow Jones Indices announced late Friday that the laptop maker would rejoin the S & P 500 benchmark on Sept. 23. “Dell was a member of the S & P 500 from 1996 to 2013, before going private. In prior research we have identified the S & P 500 index inclusion as a potential catalyst,” Merchant wrote. “We believe DELL shares can continue to work post inclusion, given multiple other potential catalysts ahead including recovery in general purpose infrastructure demand, PC refresh cycle ahead into CY25, AI momentum and capital returns.” Year to date, shares have climbed more than 33%.
