DUBAI — Iran on Wednesday widened its retaliatory assault on the Persian Gulf, striking three ships near the Strait of Hormuz and declaring that banks and other businesses would be targeted as Iran seeks to raise the economic price of the U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Tehran.
