Simon Cowell’s fiance, Lauren Silverman, opened up about changing her surname to “Cowell” ahead of her marriage to the TV personality.
The entrepreneur recently made her Instagram debut with an account using Simon’s surname as hers.
Now, Lauren addressed the sudden change and revealed to Daily Mail that she is now going by Lauren Cowell while the pair are yet to tie the knot.
“Look, I am Mrs. Cowell,” she told the outlet on Friday, December 5. “I have created a life with Simon. We have a child together. We have a solid relationship.”
Lauren further shared that the pair’s son, Eric, is the reason behind it.
“This is more about the unity of our family and us having the same name. When we discussed it, Simon said, ‘Yeah, I would really like you to change your name,’ ” she explained.
“It wasn’t a dramatic statement, it was just: ‘This is who I am, and this is who we are,'” Lauren added.
The 48-year-old also revealed she kept her former husband’s surname for so long due to her oldest son, Adam, 20.
She initially intended to go “back” to her maiden name after the divorce from Andrew Silverman, but did not change “for his sake.”
It is pertinent to mention that Lauren and Simon got engaged in 2021 during a family getaway in Barbados on Christmas Eve.
About her upcoming wedding nuptials, she noted that they “haven’t planned anything” but do have an idea of what they don’t want.
“We will not be having a big, grand wedding with a white dress. We are very low-key. We are a bit kooky and unconventional in the way we do things – it is what it is, you know?” she added.
