Former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star Collin Gosselin is sending a warning to his estranged mother, Kate, ahead of the release of his new memoir.

Collin and his seven siblings — twins Mady and Cara, 25, and fellow sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Leah and Joel — had their upbringing documented on the TLC reality series, which premiered in 2007. The series followed the large family as parents Jon and Kate navigated their 2009 divorce and ultimately parted ways.

Now 22, Collin recently announced his forthcoming tell-all memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. The book is slated for an October release.

Just over a week after revealing his memoir’s cover, Collin shared a New York Post headline about his estranged mother on his Instagram Story on Saturday. It read: “Kate Gosselin ‘spiraling’ ahead of estranged son Collin’s bombshell memoir: ‘She knows it’s about to hit the fan.’”

The article cites a source quoted by the Daily Mail, who claimed Kate had “no idea this book was in the works.”

Collin blurred out his mom’s face using a filter and shared a follower’s comment that read, “What’s done in darkness will always come to light.”

The former reality TV star announced his memoir — the cover of which features a photo of Collin and Kate from the height of their Jon & Kate Plus 8 fame — earlier this month, writing on Instagram: “For a long time, I wasn’t sure I’d ever tell this story.

“Growing up, millions of people watched my life on television. People felt like they knew me. They knew my family. They watched me grow up. But there was so much they never saw,” he continued.

“For years, I kept those experiences to myself. Some because I was afraid. Some because I didn’t think anyone would believe me. And some because I just wasn’t ready.”

Collin has been estranged from Kate for about a decade following her decision to send him to a behavioral health institution in 2016, citing the boy’s “unpredictable and violent behavior.” When Collin left the facility after a two-year stay, he went to live with his father, Jon.

Then, in a bombshell 2024 interview with The Sun, Collin alleged that Kate had started abusing him when he was eight or nine years old.

“I just remember being isolated from my siblings and constantly taking the fall for her emotions or the tough things going on in her life,” he told the publication, adding that he remembered “being a scapegoat and always taking the brute end of things.”

At the time, Kate’s attorney said he didn’t believe she had done anything to “intentionally harm” Collin, saying “she did what she did to protect herself and her family” from what the attorney referred to as “troubled behavior.”

The Independent has reached out to Kate for comment.
