Luke Wilson, 54, turns heads after welcoming first child with 24-year-old girlfriend
Luke Wilson and his girlfriend, Kendall Yates, have quietly welcomed their first child together.
The Legally Blonde actor, 54, and the 24-year-old were seen holding their baby girl in a carrier at an event for Wilson’s forthcoming Netflix series The Hawk, at a resort in California.
People confirmed that the couple introduced their newborn to fellow actors and attendees at the industry event. The Independent has contacted Wilson for comment.
The couple has largely kept their romance under the radar since they started dating in 2023, only making a handful of public appearances together during that time.
They were first photographed together in January 2023 while taking a walk on the beach with Wilson’s dog.
The duo made their first joint appearance at a Hollywood event in June 2024 for Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, which Wilson stars in, and attended the after-party together.
Wilson and Yates were photographed together earlier this year, in April, on the beach. At the time, Yates was seen sporting an oversized white T-shirt while the actor wore a blue hoodie and a tan hat, per photos obtained by People.
Wilson, the younger brother of Wedding Crashers actor Owen Wilson, had previously spoken about his desire to have children in a 2007 interview with People, saying at the time: “I don’t have a girlfriend, but I wouldn’t mind one. I definitely want [kids] at some point.”
Both of Luke’s brothers, Owen and Andrew Wilson, have welcomed children of their own.
Owen, 57, is a father to three children. He welcomed his son, Robert Ford, in 2011, with then-girlfriend Jade Duell. He became a father to a second son, Finn, with Caroline Lindqvist in 2014. In October 2018, Owen also fathered a daughter named Lyla with Varunie Vongsvirates.
Wilson said in 2021 that age didn’t matter much to him, but he started feeling a bit “panicky” before his 50th birthday,
“30 didn’t matter to me. 40 didn’t matter to me,” he told People. “I just steamrolled right through it, but 50. I don’t know if it’s getting to me because I am sore when I wake up in the middle of the night, and I am forgetting the names of people I know.”
“So I don’t know. It’s definitely one of those things that has had me thinking, ‘Oh, okay. So this is where the phrase midlife crisis comes from,’” he said. “I’m definitely starting to feel panicky about some stuff.”
Wilson dated his Home Fries co-star Drew Barrymore from 1996 to 1998, and Barrymore later admitted that they were in an open relationship and dated other people. He also had a relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow for a year after they worked together on the 2001 Wes Anderson film The Royal Tenenbaums.
The actor is known for playing Pete, the boyfriend to Cameron Diaz’s character, in Charlie’s Angels, as well as Elle Woods’s love interest Emmett in the Legally Blonde movies and for acting opposite Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell in the 2003 comedy movie Old School.
