Prince Harry’s Remembrance Day return revealed as Sussexes accept new reality
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are settling into their new life in the UK as private individuals and non-working royals, under the terms of the agreement reached when they stepped back from royal duties in 2020.
That distinction is expected to remain particularly visible this November, when the Royal Family gathers for Remembrance Sunday.
Before their move to California, Harry regularly joined senior members of his family at the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London.
The occasion has long held personal significance for the Duke, who spent a decade in the British Armed Forces and served two tours in Afghanistan.
Despite now being based much nearer to his relatives, Harry is not expected to resume his place alongside working royals at the annual ceremony.
Sources close to the Sussexes have indicated that the couple accept the arrangement, with one friend of Harry telling The Times that he will “do whatever they want him to do”.
Instead, the Duke could choose to mark Remembrance Sunday, which falls on November 8 this year, through one of the military charities and organisations with which he remains closely involved.
Among the most significant is the Invictus Games, the international sporting event Harry founded in 2014 for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.
