Barbara Eden shares health update after reports of her ‘sudden illness’

Barbara Eden is reassuring fans she’s okay.

The 95-year-old actress was scheduled to attend the Cinecon Classic Film Festival in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 5, but cancelled shortly before she was due to appear due to a “sudden illness,” according to an announcement by the festival.

As concern spread among fans, Eden took to Instagram to explain that there had been “a bit of a miscommunication” and that she’s “not suffering from an illness.”

“My doctor very recently prescribed a brand-new medication that turned out to have some nasty side effects,” she clarified. “Due to the discomfort, my doctor ordered me to remain at home until it can be sorted out.”

The I Dream of Jeannie star continued, “What awful timing for this to happen,” Eden added. “My deepest appreciation to everyone for the concern. This is just a speedbump! I expect to be out and about as soon as I’m given the go-ahead!”

Eden had been set to receive the Cinecon Legacy Award at the festival, which celebrated its 62nd edition this year. Despite her absence, Eden was honoured by Pat Boone, who previously starred alongside her on All Hands on Deck and The Yellow Canary.
