How long could Russell Brand be locked up after guilty rape verdict?

Russell Brand could face a prison sentence of nearly a decade, as he has been found guilty of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

British legal expert Kelly Sahota told Page Six exclusively on Thursday that he expects the comedian to receive a significant prison sentence following the guilty verdict.

“My estimate, based on the convictions and what is publicly known, would be in the region of eight or nine years, although the final sentence is for the judge to decide,” he said.

Although a life sentence for the crime of rape is legally possible in England, a senior solicitor said he does not expect Russell to receive one.

Under the sentencing guidelines for the crime of sexual assault, a prison term ranging from four to 19 years may be imposed, Kelly explained.

For those who are not familiar, Russell landed in legal troubles in September 2023 when The Sunday Times published an investigation detailing allegations of sexual misconduct made by several women.

The 51-year-old actor dismissed the allegation at that time, insisting that his relationships had always been based on mutual consent.

The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation against the comedian in April 2025.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Russell maintained his innocence and denied the allegations.
