Amanda Seyfried jumps in blind in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s new film ‘Octet’?

Amanda Seyfried is already in love with her forthcoming movie with Manuel Miranda.

Seyfried attended Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Book gala on Thursday, April 16, where she opened up to PEOPLE magazine about how she felt when Miranda announced her inclusion in his upcoming musical film, Octet.

On April 2, Miranda proclaimed that he would be serving as a director in Octet, while on April 14, he started rehearsing with an ensemble cast, including Tramell Tillman, Rachel Zegler, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Phillipa Soo, Paul-Jordan Jansen, and Jonathan Groff.

Articulating her thoughts about the project, Seyfried said, “I didn’t even know what it was exactly.

“I just knew that Lin-Manuel Miranda was making a new project and he was directing a new movie, and it was a musical and I did meet with him. I’d met him before around town, but I met with him specifically for this project,” she explained.

Notably, the Mean Girls star was ready to do the project when she heard about it.

She recalled, “I was like, ‘I don’t care what it is. I’m in.’ And he said, ‘Let me just explain it to you.’ But it’s a cappella and I’m a born singer. It’s what I love to do.”

“It’s what makes me happy, and to do it for work is absolutely better than I could have ever hoped, so I’m in it right now. We’re in it right now, and some of the best moments of my life have just happened this week,” Seyfried noted.

It is pertinent to mention that Octet, a musical that first premiered off-Broadway in 2019, will mark Miranda’s return as a director, following the 2021 musical drama Tick, Tick… Boom!
