David Burtka has revealed that this year’s holiday season will be all about rest, family time, and keeping things low-key.
Speaking with PEOPLE Magazine at the 24 Hour Plays Gala, the actor shared that after a busy stretch, he has been looking forward to a quieter Christmas spent with loved ones.
“It’s been wild,” Burtka admitted, reflecting on how hectic things have been lately.
He explained that both sides of the family will gather just before Christmas, making time for a joint dinner, gift exchanges, and some quality bonding.
“Both our parents come into town right before Christmas. We have both our families go out to dinner and we do gifts, and all of that,” he said.
After the festivities, Burtka and his family plan to retreat east to their home for the remainder of the holiday break.
“Then we’ll go out east to our place there and spend the two weeks of holiday break just chilling out,” he added.
Burtka, who shares 15-year-old twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott with his partner Neil Patrick Harris, noted that the quiet time will be especially welcome once Harris wraps up his Broadway run in ART.
“Harris really wants to just do nothing,” Burtka shared and concluded by stating, “It’ll be nice just to not do anything and have a very quiet New Year’s, and just be together and cook.”
