Alexander Gould is reflecting on how growing up as a child actor shaped his life as he returns to Hollywood.
Gould began working at age 2 and said he spent much of his childhood in adult work environments. He was later cast as the voice of Nemo after a nearly yearlong audition process, though he didn’t initially realise he had landed the lead role.
The recording took three years, followed by heavy promotion, making the experience far more intense than he expected at a young age.
Released in 2003, Finding Nemo became the highest-grossing domestic film of the year and later led to the 2016 sequel Finding Dory.
Gould continued acting after the film and later played Shane Botwin on Showtime’s Weeds, before stepping away from the industry after the series ended.
He is now returning to the industry. He recently rejoined social media and plans to launch a podcast in the new year focused on child acting and life inside the entertainment industry.
