Harry Styles has revealed how he ended up attending the announcement of the new Pope at St Peter’s Square in Rome last year.
Harry sent fans into a frenzy when he was spotted in the crowd as Pope Leo XIV delivered his first public remarks.
The As It Was hitmaker recently announced a new album to break his music hiatus. The singer’s new album is called Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. He has also announced a seven-city residency to promote the album.
He appeared on Greg James’s BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show on Friday to promote the album and revealed that he ended up in Rome for a haircut.
“Long way to go for it,” he remarked.
“Then I just heard all these people start shouting ‘Habemus Papam!’ [We have a Pope!] and people just started running down the street,” he recalled.
He added, “So the guy cutting my hair, stopped cutting my hair, and he was like ‘Habemus Papam! There’s a new Pope, there’s a new Pope!”‘
The hairdresser ultimately finished the haircut, and the Adore You singer went out to join the crowd. The singer ended up feeling upstaged by the new Pope.
He said, “I was like ‘Who is this getting all the attention?”‘
Harry Styles’ upcomign tour will see him serenade 50 stops in Amsterdam, London, São Paulo, Mexico City, New York, Melbourne, and Sydney from May through December 2026.
