Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith remain a “committed team” despite a $3 million lawsuit filed against Pinkett Smith by former friend Bilaal Salaam.
The confirmation came from an entertainment source, who told People that the allegation has not shaken the couple’s dynamic. “Their relationship is still good. They spend time together and time apart,” the insider said.
The pair maintains “deep respect” for one another while managing their individual careers and family responsibilities. “They are a committed team in their own way. They’ve put many years into this.”
Salaam’s suit, filed December 1, alleges that Pinkett Smith threatened him in a Calabasas hotel lobby in 2021, warning he would “end up missing or catch a bullet” if he continued sharing her personal information.
The lawsuit claims Pinkett Smith confronted him along with seven members of her entourage and pressured him to sign an NDA, later following him to his car while issuing additional threats.
Salaam also accused the couple of a “retaliatory campaign” after he made “viral” statements, including a 2023 claim that he once walked in on Smith with actor Duane Martin—an allegation Pinkett Smith publicly called “nonsense.”
Those close to the couple believe Salaam’s lawsuit is “a money ploy” and see him as “an opportunistic person out to exploit them.”
