Family felt hurt over Britney Spears’ post on Christmas

Britney Spears, who often shares her thoughts on social media, pens a note on Instagram amid Christmas that includes criticism of her family.

“Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can’t fix,” she captioned a photo of a Christmas tree.

“To my dear sweet innocent family … so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon … I can’t wait …. hello, beautiful Ivy … I just want to hold you, my love … Godspeed, friends,” she concludes.

However, this did not sit well with her family, reports say. Though she did not name a specific person, an insider tells Daily Mail, “The punch landed. It was hurtful and came out of nowhere. It was like a sucker punch to the gut. And during the holidays, too.”

The Grammy winner’s mom, Lynne Spears, as well as sister Jamie Lynn, are hurt the most.” The source explains that the post to them comes as a shock as they believe their relationship is repairing.

“They thought things were getting better with her, that maybe there was some reconciliation happening. So to be put on blast like that was a surprise, especially when they didn’t feel that anything bad happened.”

Another insider tells the the outlet that Britney should have aired her criticism privately rather than publicly. “It just hurts. But it is what it is. I’m sorry she feels that way, but she has everyone’s number and can pick up the phone and talk to anyone in the family, rather than posting something like that for the public to see and have an opinion about.”

“She reaches out when she wants to, and she keeps her distance when she wants to. And she often chooses to make her point publicly rather than privately,” the source concludes.
