Jonathan Jackson is returning to General Hospital to reprise his role as Lucky Spencer on the long-running ABC soap opera.

According to Variety, the Emmy-winning actor is said to be coming back for a long stint, set to return to the series later this summer.

For those who are unfamiliar with America’s second-longest soap opera, Jackson created the character of Lucky in 1993 and appeared in over 380 episodes of General Hospital as the son of Luke and Laura Spencer (Anthony Geary and Genie Francis).

Before leaving the soap opera in 2011 to take on the role of Avery Barkley in another ABC series called Nashville, Jackson was a regular on and off cast member.

Jackson’s come-back to General Hospital marks his first time playing his character in 9 years, as he returned to the show last time in 2015 for a short stint.

The actor got nominated for nine Daytime Emmy Awards and won five, in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2011 and 2012 throughout his run on the soap.

Fan of the series have been expecting a return since early June, when executive producer Frank Valentini said on the Daytime Emmys red carpet that “a former cast member is coming back. And I think that the audience will go crazy for him.”
