Late Queen said ‘no’ to Prince Harry’s wish to capture Lilibet meeting

During the Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, the nation celebrated Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s’ remarkable 70-year reign.

Amid the grand celebrations, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle introduced their daughter, Princess Lilibet, to her great grandmother for the very first time.

To mark the occasion, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hosted a garden party at Frogmore Cottage, filled with family vibes under the Windsor sunshine. 

However, according to the reports at the time, one particular request  from the couple was denied-and it involved the Queen herself.

The Sun reported that Harry and Meghan wished to capture the heartfelt moment between the Queen and Lilibet with a photograph, but their request was firmly turned down.

‘It was a private family meeting,’ an unnamed insider revealed. According to the source, ‘There were fears any photos of the Queen and Lilibet taken by the couple’s photographer would be shared by them with US television networks.’ 

Prince Harry also reflected on the moment in his memoir Spare. Recalling the tender interaction, he wrote, ‘Archie making his deep bows, his baby sister Lilibet cuddling the monarch’s shins. Sweetest children, Granny said, sounding bemused. She’d expected them to be a bit more… American, I think? Meaning in her mind, more rambunctious.’

Despite the significance of the meeting, the Sussexes choose to keep most of its details private.
