‘Malcolm in the Middle’ returns after years with first trailer drops
Finally, the hotly anticipated trailer of Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair has arrived. The series is a revival of a hit sitcom from the 2000s.
The teaser also announces the premiere date, set for April 10. The new show will focus on Frankie Muniz, who plays now a grown-up Malcolm, reuniting with his family after avoiding them for more than a decade.
“My life is fantastic now,” the actor says in the trailer. “All I had to do was stay away from my family!”
But events take a turn when Malcolm’s on-screen parents, Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek), demand that he attend their wedding anniversary party.
Moreover, the Breaking Bad star was open about his efforts to revive the iconic sitcom. “I’ve been trying to get this going for 12 years. I was the one poking the bear, going, ‘Let’s do it, let’s do it, let’s do it,’” he previously said.
“Finally, Linwood Boomer, our creator of the show, got tired of me poking him. He came up with some really fun, terrific ideas.”
Regarding the new show, Bryan said it is “funny” and “heartfelt,” adding, “You are reintroduced to this family. We left the airwaves 20 years ago. All the boys are adults with their own children. It’s a different dynamic in that sense — and yet, do things really change with Hal and Lois? I don’t know that they do!”
It is worth noting that Malcolm in the Middle, the original series, ran for seven seasons on Fox from 2000 to 2006.
