Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, are facing renewed legal trouble after a man who won a six-figure judgment against them took a major step to collect what he’s owed.
Court documents obtained by Us Weekly show that Thomas Weidenmuller, who was granted a $503,000 default judgment earlier this year, has now placed a levy on Minaj’s Los Angeles home.
According to the filing made on October 17, Weidenmuller’s attorney confirmed that the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department officially placed a levy on Minaj’s 11-bedroom, 16-bathroom mansion in Hidden Hills, California, on September 16.
The nearly 12,000-square-foot property is now under claim as part of Weidenmuller’s attempt to collect the unpaid amount.
A levy allows a creditor to recover funds from the proceeds if the property is ever sold.
Weidenmuller shared a letter from the Sheriff’s Department verifying that the levy was in effect and was advised to file a motion if he wanted the home to be sold.
He did so on October 6, asking the court to authorize the sale of the mansion.
The following week, on October 16, he said he served Minaj with notice of his request by leaving a copy at her front door. Bank of America, which holds the property’s mortgage, was also formally notified.
The lawsuit stems from an alleged altercation that took place during one of Minaj’s concerts in Germany, where Weidenmuller was working as a security guard.
He claimed that a fan had rushed the stage, which angered Minaj, and when he tried to calm the situation, she became upset with him.
Later, he was reportedly called to her dressing room, where he said Minaj and Petty were present along with two security guards.
According to the suit, Petty allegedly struck him without warning, causing serious injuries, including a broken jaw that required multiple surgeries.
When Minaj and Petty failed to respond to the lawsuit, the court awarded Weidenmuller a default judgment in March 2024.
Following that, he moved to have Minaj’s mansion sold to recover the money he’s owed, estimating the home’s value at around $20 million. He said there is a $13 million mortgage on the property, and if sold, the remaining funds could help satisfy the debt.
Amid the legal developments, Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter) on October 15 to address the situation, suggesting that a former business manager failed to communicate details of the case.
She wrote, “I have evidence that this was given to a business [manager] who never told me. My lawyers AND business [managers] (old & new) are AWARE. Let’s see if they’ll speak up or if I’ll have to call them out by name. That same business [manager] STOLE from me MANY times.”
The case remains ongoing as Weidenmuller continues efforts to collect the judgment from the rapper and her husband.
