Perrie Edward’s debut single remained in the top 10 for five weeks.

Perrie Edwards confessed that being a solo artist is not easy and comes with its own hardships.

Edwards candidly shared the highs and lows of her solo career.

“It’s actually nothing like I expected it to be,” the singer admitted.

During Monday’s Music Industry Awards, Edwards stated, “I just feel like the industry is very different at the moment.”

“The way we work is very different and the way we promote is very different.”

The Shout Out To My Ex singer continued to clarify that it wasn’t about being better or worse, but something new and about adjusting to life outside the band.

She said that she absolutely loves singing and making music.

When questioned about the challenges of the job, the 31-year-old singer disclosed that she still loves being on stage, and that is not the problem.

“Definitely being able to just sing and perform. Nothing makes me happier than being on stage,” said the English singer.

“But then also, it’s harder to start from scratch and I’m not going to get to that place any time soon so it’s hard work to get me there, I just want to be on the big stage.”

Edwards recently released her third single, You Go Your Own Way, following her debut single Forget About Us and Tears, which were released earlier this year.

Her first solo single, Forget About Us, shot to the top 10 on the Official Singles Chart, and maintained the top rank for the five weeks.
