Prince William is already setting up blueprints for his upcoming reign as King Charles continues his cancer treatment.

The Prince of Wales, who is the next in line to the throne, in planning to completely change some core royal traditions which has existed in the monarchy for centuries.

According to insiders, William has contrasting ideas about faith and how things should be run compared to his father’s, which may be the cause of many axed royal traditions.

“William is toying with the idea of abolishing the religious oaths of the Coronation – potentially leading to the disestablishment of the Church of England,” a source told Mail on Sunday.

The monarch has been the head of the Church of England since the reformation in 1534. Moreover, since 1689, the Church of England’s position as the state religion has remained the same.

However, William is considering to completely remove religion from the coronation, breaking the centuries-old tradition, which will declare that Christianity is no longer the official religion of the monarchy.

During the Coronation of King Charles, the newly-crowned monarch had taken the oath on the Bible and promised that he “solemnly and sincerely in the presence of God profess, testify, and declare that I am a faithful Protestant, and that I will, according to the true intent of the enactments which secure the Protestant succession to the Throne.”

If William is adamant to continue with his plans, many challenges for the religious institution and the monarchy itself await in the future.
