Scarlett Johansson achieved a historical milestone as she returned to host Saturday Night Live for the seventh time, which crowned her as the only female star to have hosted as many SNL episodes.
The 40-year-old actress before this episode shared the title with Drew Barrymore and Tina Fey, who had all hosted the late-night comedy show six times.
Johansson, however, left her peers behind as she returned for the seventh time during the finale of SNL season 50, on May 17th.
The Under the Skin star made her hosting debut in the show back in January 2006. Since then she has returned to host in April 2007, November 2010, May 2015, March 2017 and December 2019, not including her various cameos from time to time in different sketches.
Johansson’s male counterpart for the honour of most hosting gigs is Alec Baldwin, who has hosted the show 17 times throughout SNL’s history.
In the special episode, the Black Widow actress began her monologue with an SNL-themed parody of Billy Joel’s Piano Man along with several SNL cast members, including Bowen Yang, Sarah Sherman, Mikey Day and Chloe Fineman.
Bad Bunny appeared as the musical guest for the finale and performed songs from his latest album.
