Jerry Seinfeld has paid an emotional tribute to the iconic filmmaker Rob Reiner.
Rob and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their house on December 14.
Jerry took to Instagram and posted a photo of himself alongside Rob and Rob’s dad, the late Carl Reiner. In the caption, he wrote, “Next to Larry David and George Shapiro, Rob Reiner had the biggest influence on my career.”
Adding, “Our show would have never happened without him. He saw something no one else could. When nobody at the network liked the early episodes, he saved us from cancellation.”
“That I was working with Carl Reiner’s son, who happened to be one of the kindest people in show business, seemed unreal.
I was naive at the time to how much his passion for us meant,” Jerry shared.
He went on to note, “Rob and Michele married right as our show was starting and they became an imprint for me of how it’s supposed to work, each one broadening the other.”
“Their death, together, is impossibly sad,” he concluded.
Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David co-created iconic sitcom Seinfeld. Meanwhile, Rob Reiner was the producer of the show and key figure responsible for saving it from cancellation.
Previously, Jerry has publicly claimed that Rob had “the biggest influence on my career.”
