Simon Cowell has revealed that he chooses to see purpose in life’s toughest moments.
Speaking on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, the music mogul opened up about his outlook on failure, missed opportunities and personal setbacks, sharing that he firmly believes everything unfolds exactly as it should.
When asked what he learned from his “biggest miss,” Cowell admitted that his perspective is rooted in fate.
“I do believe in destiny,” he said.
The X Factor judge went on to explain how fatherhood, particularly his relationship with his 11-year-old son Eric, whom he shares with fiancée Lauren Silverman, reshaped the way he views past hardships.
“I always use Eric as an example, which is there were certain things in my life which were bad,” Cowell reflected.
However, he added that those difficult moments ultimately led him to where he is today.
According to Cowell, even the painful chapters were necessary as “that’s your destiny.”
He noted that Eric “was conceived on a certain day at a certain time,” and had events unfolded differently, his son may not have been born.
“If things had gone differently, then I don’t believe he would be here,” Cowell continued, concluding that this belief leaves little room for regret.
“So therefore you can’t really complain too much about your regrets.”
