Cristo Fernández, beloved for playing Dani Rojas on Ted Lasso, is launching a bilingual children’s book called Fútbol Is Life! / ¡Fútbol Es Vida!.
The book title was first his signature catchphrase in the TV series. The book’s illustration is done by James Rey Sanchez.
The book, set for release this summer by Scholastic Inc., is inspired by Fernández’s time playing soccer in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The story follows Cristobalito and his soccer ball, best friends, until an injury makes him stop playing.
Cristobalito then finds new interests as he makes tamales with his grandmother and tries ballet with his sister. The message is to be open to change, discover yourself, and embrace your strengths.
Fernández says he hopes the book inspires children and adults to celebrate their culture, joy, and individuality.
“Especially in times when the world feels heavy, I hope it reminds families that staying open, trying new things, working hard, and dreaming big can always move us forward,” he told People.
Before acting, Fernández had a professional soccer career and later earned degrees in Communications and Acting, which led him to Hollywood success.
Illustrated by James Rey Sanchez, Fútbol Is Life! / ¡Fútbol Es Vida! will be published on July 7, 2026.
