Timothée Chalamet has opened up about the kind of people who truly move him, revealing his admiration for those who dare to dream beyond limits.
In a recent conversation with the BBC, the actor shared that he has long been inspired by Britain’s Got Talent breakout star Susan Boyle, praising her for dreaming “bigger than all of us.”
For those unversed, Boyle famously stunned audiences worldwide in 2009 with her viral audition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables.
“She dreamt bigger than all of us. Who wasn’t moved by that?” Chalamet said.
“I remember that like it was yesterday. That was like the advent of YouTube, you know?”
The Dune star’s comments reflect his own outlook on ambition and creative drive about which he has spoken about candidly in the past.
Earlier, while accepting the SAG Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, Chalamet made headlines for unapologetically declaring his pursuit of greatness.
“I can’t downplay the significance of this award because it means the most to me, and I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness,” he said at the time.
“I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight.”
He continued, “I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there. So I’m deeply grateful.”
