Legendary West Coast house producer DJ Dan has passed away at the age of 57.

The artist’s death was confirmed by his representative in a statement to Billboard on Sunday, March 29.

“It is with profound sorrow, deep admiration, and an enduring sense of gratitude and love that we announce the passing of Daniel Wherrett — known professionally to the world simply as DJ Dan — one of the most beloved, genre-defying, and genuinely influential pioneers in the history of American electronic music,” read a statement provided to the outlet.

“He leaves behind not just a discography, but a culture — a way of feeling music that touched millions of souls across four decades and five continents. He often said he felt his purpose in life was ‘to heal through music,’” added a spokesperson.

However, the crooner’s cause of death has not yet been revealed.

DJ Dan, whose real name is Daniel Wherrett, was scheduled to perform at Dead Ringer, Nevada, on Saturday, March 28.

However, the American DJ didn’t come to the venue and the event was canceled by the promoter.

Throughout his career, the Washington-born artist also released several albums, including Funk the System, Beats 4 Freaks, and Future Retro.
