The National Air and Space Museum has been a construction zone since 2018, when it began a top-to-bottom renovation, blocking off different sections for extended periods. Partial reopenings in 2022 and 2025 returned precious objects to view in new settings — the Wright brothers flyer, the Apollo 11 command module, the Spirit of St. Louis, the touchable moon rock — and displayed other objects for the first time.
