Adam Peaty shares excitement about first child with wife Holly Ramsay
Olympic champion swimmer Adam Ramsay-Peaty has revealed that the impending arrival of his first child with wife Holly Ramsay-Peaty has prompted him to “grow up”.
The 31-year-old, who married the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay in December, shared his excitement about expanding his family in an interview with BBC Breakfast.
The couple, who tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Bath Abbey, announced in June that they are expecting a baby girl.
Ramsay-Peaty is already a father to a five-year-old son from a previous relationship with artist Eirianedd Munro.
Speaking on Breakfast, the decorated athlete said that his wedding was “one of the best days of my life”.
“Watching Holly walk down the aisle, it’s a view that I’ll never ever forget,” he said.
“It’s almost like I’ve got a snapshot in my brain, and the music in the church was just incredible.”
Ramsay-Peaty also touched on his famous father-in-law’s role in his life and his expanding family.
“Having Gordon as my father-in-law is an incredible blessing,” he said.
“I’m also expecting a baby little girl. Well, I’m incredibly excited. For me, that role of being a father has been just incredible. To have another human in this world that loves and cherishes you, I think it’s the biggest blessing.
“My love for them isn’t going to be judged by a medal, and obviously with Holly going through pregnancy, all I can pray for is her happiness and health, as well as the baby.
“And for me, that does push me even more to, I guess, grow up.”
Ramsay-Peaty, one of Britain’s most successful swimmers with six Olympic medals, including three golds, is preparing for his fourth Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.
He and his wife reportedly met through Holly’s sister Tilly during their time on the BBC dancing programme Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.
Ramsay-Peaty and his parents, Caroline and Mark Peaty, had a highly publicised falling out ahead of his and Holly’s December wedding.
A row exploded when Caroline publicly said she was not invited to Holly’s hen do, and later granted an interview with the Daily Mail about the feud.
Adam’s sister, Bethany, was in attendance at the wedding, serving alongside Holly’s two sisters as her bridesmaid.
