As summer travel gathers pace across the country, Indian Railways has announced three special trains originating from Bihar to ease the surge in passenger traffic during the peak holiday season.

According to an official release by the East Central Railway zone, the additional services have been introduced to improve connectivity between Bihar and key destinations across north and south India, routes that traditionally witness heavy demand during summer months.

With schools closing and migration-linked travel increasing, stations across Bihar are already seeing a sharp rise in footfall. The newly announced trains aim to reduce waiting lists and provide more confirmed berths to passengers struggling to secure tickets on regular services.

Key Routes Announced

The three summer special trains include:

New Delhi – Supaul Special Train, connecting the national capital with northern Bihar

Anand Vihar – Jogbani Special Train, improving access to the Bihar–Nepal border region

Saharsa – Yeshwantpur Special Train, offering long-distance connectivity between Bihar and Bengaluru

These routes have been strategically selected to cover high-density corridors and cater to both short- and long-distance travellers.

Seasonal Relief Measure

Railway officials stated that these services will operate for a limited period aligned with peak summer demand. The move is part of Indian Railways’ annual strategy to introduce additional trains during high-traffic seasons to ease congestion and improve passenger convenience.

The trains are expected to benefit a wide cross-section of travellers, including migrant workers, students, and families undertaking long-distance journeys during school holidays.

With the introduction of these special services, Indian Railways continues to play a crucial role in managing India’s seasonal mobility demands, ensuring smoother, more accessible travel during one of the busiest times of the year.
