Twenty-one years ago, Bollywood aficionados swooned over the youthful charms of Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao, and Shenaz Treasurywala in the college romantic comedy, Ishq Vishk. Directed by Ken Ghosh, the film followed the love triangle of a college guy who wanted to be “cool” and hoped to date the most popular girl, making Shahid the poster boy of rom-coms. Now, after two decades, fans are in for a delightful treat with the much-anticipated reboot, Ishq Vishk Rebound.
The official storyline teases, “When relationships can be found on apps and lost over a chat, you know that love needs an upgrade. Ishq Vishk Rebound. It’s time to move on.” Scheduled for release in June this year, the film features Rohit Saraf, Jibraan Khan, and Naila Grrewal in the lead, as well as Pashmina Roshan, daughter of Rajesh Roshan and cousin of Hrithik Roshan.
Speaking at an event in Mumbai, Pashmina candidly shared insights from her family’s legacy, revealing how Hrithik’s advice to remain authentic resonated deeply with her. “The pride, the luck, the support that I have come with, the pressure is to live up to that. To live up to their advice, to live up to their work, to make a place for myself in the industry where they have the hearts of the audience, that’s pressure,” she said as per Hindustan Times.
Adding to the buzz, the film recently unveiled its title track, Ishq Vishq Pyaar Vyaar, a melodious number that stirred nostalgia even in Shahid himself. Taking to social media, the original Ishq Vishk heartthrob shared his sentiments, remarking, “21 years and the track still sounds fresh… All the best guys! This one will always be special.”
